The Fourth of July may be a fun-filled holiday for humans, but for many pets, it can be a stressful and even dangerous time. Loud fireworks, unfamiliar gatherings, and outdoor activities can all pose risks to your furry family members.

Here are a few tips to help keep your pets safe and calm this Independence Day:

1. Create a Safe Space:
Set up a quiet, comfortable area indoors where your pet can retreat if the noise becomes overwhelming. Keep doors and windows closed to minimize sound.

2. Skip the Fireworks:
Never bring your pet to a fireworks display. The loud booms and flashes can cause anxiety and may even lead to escape attempts.

3. Make Sure They’re Microchipped & Tagged:
In case your pet does get out, ensure they have a collar with updated tags and are microchipped with current contact info.

4. Watch Out for Table Scraps & Toxic Foods:
Barbecues are fun, but many human foods—like onions, grapes, chocolate, and alcohol—can be harmful to pets. Keep food and drinks out of reach.

5. Avoid Heat-Related Illness:
If your pet will be outdoors for any period of time, make sure they have plenty of shade and water, and avoid walking them on hot pavement.
