Seeking VETERINARY TECHNICIAN to join our MVH team!

  • Vacation for full time employees will receive one week (5day) vacation at the completion of their first year employment, 10 days at the completion of the second year and 15 day for 5 years or more.
  • Personal Sick Days  earn 1/2 day per month after probationary period
  • 4 day work week.
  • Paid Holiday Days – 6 days per year period
  • Health benefits offered 60 days after the start date

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist Veterinarians: Provide assistance during examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures. Handle and restrain animals during examinations and treatments.
  2. Patient Care: Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments prescribed by a veterinarian. Monitor and care for animals after surgery.
  3. Diagnostic Support: Prepare animals and equipment for x-rays, perform laboratory tests (such as blood work, urinalysis, and parasitic examinations), and operate diagnostic equipment.
  4. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate medical records using veterinary hospital software. Update patient files with treatment details and follow-up care.
  5. Client Interaction: Communicate with pet owners, explain treatment plans, and provide guidance on pet care. Answer questions and provide reassurance regarding treatments and animal care.
  6. Emergency Care: Provide first aid and emergency care as necessary.
  7. Equipment Maintenance: Clean, maintain, and sterilize instruments and equipment. Ensure that all areas are ready for upcoming procedures.

Requirements (may vary):

  • Education (preferred but not required): Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology. Preferred graduate from a program accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
  • Certification: Certification as a Veterinary Technician (credentialing varies by state but may include titles such as Registered, Licensed, or Certified Veterinary Technician).
  • Experience: Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital is preferred but not required.
  • Skills:
    • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with pet owners and team members.
    • Good technical skills with the ability to handle and restrain animals safely.
    • Detail-oriented with the ability to keep precise records.
    • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
    • Compassion for animals and a commitment to animal welfare.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and handle physically and emotionally stressful situations.
